Why is Guerrilla Marketing Bad?

Guerilla marketing can also be seen in bad ways in perspective by people that are attacked by its marketing campaign whatever it may be. “These guerrilla marketing campaigns could be seen as invasion of privacy or unethical marketing practices” (http://www.creativeguerrillamarketing.com/guerrilla-marketing/guerrilla -badvertising/) why do we think that it could be an invasion of privacy? Well the people that believe that have every right to believe that, because guerilla marketing is not something that accidently happens it is there to grab your attention, to try to sell you something, to advertise for a new unreleased movie. These different strategies used are usually effective and seem to work on people, but that doesn’t make it right to do that. People should be able to walk around town without having to worry about ridiculous advertisements all around town.
Although I have seen some guerrilla marketing ads out there are absolute nonsense, I have seen some good looking advertisements out there that definitely have good meaning behind them. It’s for the small time companies out there that no one has ever heard of, it’s a good way to get their names out there to the people that have never heard about it before, and it is a good way to finally figure out who they are. Then there are the bigger companies who are just trying to make money off you because they know their cool looking advertisements will hook you. The only good advertisement I saw out there was the one about “District 9” it’s by a small movie company that no one has heard of. They have bus benches that say for humans only, if alien found call this number. The number on the actual bus bench is a real number that will give you information on the movie and its release date.
In articles that I have been reading about online I have stumble upon one that makes a little more sense as in why is guerrilla marketing even around. “I’m referring to the soul and essence of guerrilla marketing which remains as always – achieving conventional goals, such as profits and joy, with unconventional methods, such as investing energy instead of money.” (http://www.gmarketing .com/articles/4-what-is-guerrilla-marketing, James Conrad Levinson) what I’m understanding after reading that is some guerrilla marketers out there are not all out to get you even though most of them usually are its showing to me that there is still good in this society. Guerrilla marketing for some people is a way of expressing their art and passion to let the world know how they feel about a certain product and they are advertising to make money, because they didn’t really have much to start off with hence the idea of guerrilla marketing in the first place.
In conclusion, it seems apparent that guerrilla marketing may look appealing to you and you might actually like how their ads turn out to be. More than likely you end up buying whatever the advertisement is about because it looks really cool and you never took the time to find out if it’s really good or not. This just seems like a scheme to make people buy their products with their mesmerizing advertisements. This way of advertising is so affective that bigger companies like Nike, adidas, and Microsoft. These companies are using this form of advertising to get at people because they’ve seen how successful it’s been in the past. I have yet to see a very good guerrilla marketing advertisement that deserves to be out there and is not trying to trick its consumer, sometimes you can see that’s not the plan to trick the consumer but it just ends up being that way for the lack of having a very interesting looking advertisement. I’ve also learned that some ways of guerrilla marketing aren’t as bad, it’s just a way for the small companies to get their names out there and hopefully get their products sold by using a billboard, a bus bench, and cereal boxes. Usually this is a free way of advertising or a very cheap way rather than having lots of money spent on a very fancy magazine advertisement or television advertisement.
